Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength (Batch 1)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 12, 2018 (edited December 20, 2019)Batch 009: it’s rich, sweet, smooth, peaty, and it’s cask strength. What more can I ask for? -
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Dog
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed May 27, 2018 (edited January 12, 2022)This is very different from the normal blue label. This one is bottled at 46% abv instead of the normal 40%. It is sweeter on the palate, has more depth and flavor, and just as smooth as the normal blue label. The normal blue label tastes “watery” compare to this year of the dog edition. I highly recommend this whiskey, it’s truly a unique and worthy dram, and the beautiful artwork on it is a plus! -
Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed May 16, 2018 (edited November 16, 2019)Very balanced and smooth! The peatiness works great with the sweetness. It’s a great whiskey, but the 99 score might be a little bit overrated. -
Mars Komagatake Nature of Shinshu Rindo
Single Malt — Japan
Reviewed April 19, 2018 (edited May 11, 2018)The clean and subtle smokiness is super addictive. You can tell this has some young whiskey in it. I actually quite enjoy the oiliness, because it doesn’t burn when I let it fill my mouth and hold it there. The palate might be a bit thin, but the finish is very clean. A bit hard to find, but I highly recommend it. -
Macallan Classic Cut (2017 Release)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 19, 2018 (edited March 16, 2020)I don’t really understand this whiskey. It’s just not a pleasant experience overall. It doesn’t taste nearly as good as the Edition No.2 or even the 12 for a similar priced whiskey. It tastes unrefined on the palate, and the finish has some bitterness to it. The high ABV Macallan is always welcomed, but I just wish it can taste a bit better. -
Bruichladdich Black Art 1990 04.1 Edition 23 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 19, 2018 (edited December 1, 2022)The flavor of the Black Art is definitely a unique one. It has a quite interesting dry fruit taste that I didn’t found on any other whiskey I’ve tried. The finish was a bit too dry to my taste, and the alcohol kick on the palate is just a tiny bit too harsh. A drop of water will solve the problem. Overall, a fantastic whiskey! I’m not quite sure how much I have left in my bottle, because I can’t really see through :p
