Laphroaig Càirdeas 2016 Madeira Cask
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2018 (edited August 14, 2022)Honey is my first impression, buried underneath the heavy smokiness, trying so hard to stand out. This is a very smooth and enjoyable whiskey, despite its relatively high abv. Highly recommended. -
Macallan 18 Year Sherry Oak Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2018 (edited May 28, 2018)Perfection is the first word that come up to my mind every time I drink it. The first time I drank it, I thought it was a little bit underwhelming, but the more I drink it, the more I fall in love with it. It’s not about the sheer in your face sherry taste, it’s all about the beautiful balance. It has the distinctive Macallan sherry oak smell and taste, with super clean, short and enjoyable finishing. This is just one of those scotch that you simply crave for more every time you drink it. I think 90 points is a bit underrated. Definitely one of my absolute favorite, on par with the Macallan rare cask. -
Balblair 1983 1st Release
Single Malt — Highlands , Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2018 (edited July 4, 2021)The purest form of American bourbon cask whisky. Very sweet and fruity on the nose as well as the palates. The finishing is creamy, woody, smooth and clean. Reminds of the Glen Grant 23yr from The First Edition. For a 32 yr whisky, this is a hell of a deal. Splendid whiskey! -
Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year
Blended Malt — Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2018 (edited May 11, 2018)Sweet on the palate, a hint of smokiness on the finish. Very smooth but not really fruity. Very nice daily dram indeed!
