Little Book Chapter 4: Lessons Honored
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USATasted August 14, 2020The nose is beautiful on this, I got like an apricot/peach cobbler with sweet baking spices. Its a little oakey with maybe some sweet pipe tobacco in the very end. Palate has a nice oily sheen and was slick on the tongue. At first I wasn't a fan, but on the 2nd dram, I really started liking this. Even though it is dry on the end there was not a lot of burn with this. Overall, not bad, I really enjoyed this, price was a little hefty, I would't mind finding another because I think this will decant well in the next few months..125.0 USD per Bottle
Stranahan's Sherry Cask
American Single Malt — Colorado, USATasted May 17, 2020Sweet sherry and sweet baking spices on the nose with hints of cherry & apricot. The mouth on this is really silky/oily, I love this. No peat, heavy sweet sherry, with the palate also having tastes of espresso coffee beans and a caramel toffee nuttiness. This was a hit for me. This was flavorful and without the high alcohol content to get drunk, sipping on this you can have a few and be good for the night.76.0 USD per Bottle
Bunnahabhain 33 Year
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandTasted December 14, 2018On the nose: Sweet flowers, over ripe apples, soft honey & roasted nuts, very smooth and almost no peat. Some tobacco cigar notes and touches of orange. This smells great! Palate: Honey & chocolate with touches of oranges, nuts and a little grassy. Not bad and matches well with the what I smelled. Some small outdoorsy notes but that is also what I like about it. Very good, smooth and elegant. Finish: This is awesome! Very smooth and beautiful on the nose and wonderful to drink. Found myself smelling the glass for almost 15 min after I was done. Only wish this was still around to have more. A must have for any scotch drinker.
Auchentoshan Blood Oak
Single Malt — Lowlands, ScotlandTasted December 14, 2018On the nose: Sweet baking spices, golden raisins & maybe apricot or blood oranges. Just a small amount of peat, enough to notice it's a scotch. It almost smells like a good bourbon. Palate: Sweet, woodsy, nutty - maybe walnuts & honey. Dry on the mouth, makes me want a sip of water. Could be a stronger proof, but not too much. Finish: A few minutes of not drinking, I am left with chocolate cigar taste/notes in the mouth. This is good, but would still rate this about 88/100.
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2018
Bourbon — Kentucky, USATasted December 11, 2018On the nose I get caramel & baking spices, chocolate, roasted nuts, little smoke and in the back of there some fruit. For me, I took a dab of this and rubbed it under my nose to dry a little, then stepped outside to get a fresh smell outside of the house. There it was, nice hints of what I think is apricot or peach notes, almost cobbler like, very nice. The body was medium, not too thin, but not really super deep and robust or chewy. The finish was great, the bourbon left great smells of fruits, caramels , warm baking spices & almost chocolate hinting cigar notes in my glass. I ended up smelling the empty glass for a good 20 min after. This is really good and will possibly be even better after a few months of decanting.106.0 USD per Bottle
Oban Bay Reserve (Game of Thrones-The Night's Watch)
Peated Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandTasted December 11, 2018This is nice. Sweet & smokey on the nose with floral hints. The mouth is smokey, floral honey woodsy that has a slight heat that creeps in. Finish was a little dry and not as a deep robustness that I prefer. But ya know, everybody's taste palate is different. For me, the 1 bottle was good for purchase and glad to find one outside of the second hand market.69.0 USD per Bottle
