Glengoyne Legacy Series: Chapter One 2019
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 20, 2020 (edited June 4, 2023)Bottle half-filled, open a month malt, chocolate and banana - on the nose. Berries, Figs, Dates, Chocolate - on the taste. spicy chocolate and astringency - on the finish Value: Very cool of Glengoyne to come out with a high ABV NAS. I wont be collecting this one, as others do with the Macallan Edition series. I think this Legacy 1 is trying to capitalize on the "Gotta catch 'em all - Pokemon" whiskey lover. Its a good fruity, chocolaty and strong whiskey at a fair price. P.S. I have thought about buying another, as this bottle is almost empty - unconsciously enjoyed more in life, than in this review. 5.0 - go out and buy all of the stock you can find. 4.0 - must buy at least one bottle before you die. 3.0 - solid, must try at a bar, or mooch from a friend. 2.0 - didn't like it, you may. 1.0 - you may have the palate of my dog, and he licks his own ass.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Amrut Peated Indian Single Malt
Single Malt — India
Reviewed February 19, 2020 (edited March 4, 2021)Bottle 1/3 full One of the bests. Peat and butterscotch on the nose. Vanilla, smoke, oatmeal, cinnamon, roasted peanuts, "Amrut green pepper" and berries - in that order on the taste. Finish - glide off into the smoky sunset with medicine. Value: Received this as a Christmas gift from my wife, and was underwhelmed, it soon became a favorite. Really digging the dynamics of Indian whisky. The price tag reflects the juice inside, but would have second thoughts chasing it to the $85 range. Will definitely keep stocked in my cabinet, and am eager to share with friends. P.S. as the bottle goes down, floral notes start to make themselves known and powers past the other flavors. 5.0 - go out and buy all of the stock you can find. 4.0 - must buy at least one bottle before you die. 3.0 - solid, must try at a bar, or mooch from a friend. 2.0 - didn't like it, you may. 1.0 - you may have the palate of my dog, and he licks his own ass.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Amrut Portonova Single Malt
Single Malt — India
Reviewed February 19, 2020 (edited September 14, 2021)Batch 16 Shoulder pour. Strawberry jam, prunes, green pepper, hot pepper, chew-able aspirin bitterness. Unique, and wonderful. Thoughts: This is an expensive bottle, but the realization of losing it is too much to bear. The uniqueness and quality of this spirit is amazing. I went out and purchased the last one on the shelf - as a backup. I don't know where I can get another, but I'll miss it when its gone. It is my mountain top for fruity whiskies. 5.0 - go out and buy all of the stock you can find. 4.0 - must buy at least one bottle before you die. 3.0 - solid, must try at a bar, or mooch from a friend. 2.0 - didn't like it, you may. 1.0 - you may have the palate of my dog, and he licks his own ass.140.0 USD per Bottle
