Amrut Portonova Single Malt
Single Malt
Amrut // India
Amrut, in Bangalore, India is as quirky a distillery as there is. Almost everything is done by hand – dozens of ladies in colorful saris hand package the bottles.
Portonova is matured in bourbon barrels in a dugout warehouse that avoids excessive heat and is finished in Port Pipes for a very fruity whisky. Note: This review was done from Batch #6.

Tasting Notes
"Figs, prunes, tobacco, and a strong sense of spirit are shown on the nose. The palate is really figgy, slightly bitter and a bit peppery. Water softens and broadens it, cutting the bitterness and adding more dark fruits and soft peppers. Pleasing barrel notes. Lovely bracing spiciness. Slight clover honey sweetness."
