Aroma: Mango & flan Flavor: Mango, toasted coconut, & floral honey. Aftertaste: Long & sweet, soft caramel, &mouthwatering orange candy Body: Medium-light Wow, I've had my share of Evan William's Single Barrell, but this was phenomenal. Barrel 602, 5 days shy of 8 years is fruity on the nose and carries over to tropical mango and toasted coconut on the palate. Very smooth with very little burn or char coming through, which is odd for a bourbon of this age. Well balanced, slightly unbalanced sweet, could use more barrel to round out the overall experience. Very nice and moves to the top of my underrated and underpriced list.

Aroma: Stone fruit, floral, oak, & hay. Flavor: Cherry jolly rancher, cinnamon, charred oak, hernal, & floral. Warm vanilla, honey, cocoa tea, & hay. Aftertaste: Spiced honey, orange zest. Body: Heavy, syrupy, & round Each aspect of this bourbon is loud. You can smell it from across the room, and each sip shares something new. Heavy, boozy, and delicious it immediately hits the palate like candy before opening up. It is powerfully balanced with exceptionally pleasant complexity even at 136proof. A surprising steal at the price for what is now in my top 5.

Aroma: Oaky Vanilla, Caramel, & Cherry Flavor: Caramel apple, Vanilla, oaky, & dried dark cherries. Body: Smooth, medium-heavy, & syrupy. Aftertaste: Charred oak, bakers chocolate, sweet corn and ground ginger. The nose on this bourbon was strong and sticky sweet! Slight burn up front, but eased off and let the complexity take over on this 12yr old wheated bourbon. Started with some acidity like apple and cherry coming through. Long lasting aftertaste sticks to the tongue.

Aroma: Oak, caramel apple, & cherry Flavor: Maple syrup, corn, pineapple, brown sugar, & Apple. Aftertaste: Charred cinnamon, apple, & rye. A rich and strong whisky with an approachable price. Sweet and smooth with not too much burn, this was very drinkable and approachable. The flavors were a little cumbersome and indistinguishable. A little unpleasant in the finish, easily fixed with another sip.

Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky
Single Grain — Japan
Reviewed September 5, 2018 (edited September 16, 2018)Aroma: Caramel popcorn & lemon oil Flavor: Sweet light caramel, vanilla, & floral. Body: Round, light, but deceptive. Aftertaste: Warming, floral, rock candy, & peach. A delicate and complex pour that deceives with strong flavors that make you feel like you're drinking a heavier bourbon. The complexity is unique with standard flavors accompanied by florals and a pleasant peach finish that opened up further as it rested. -
