Herencia Mexicana Añejo Tequila
Distiller Score 91
This tequila presents a rich and dense character that is evident from the moment you smell it. A culmination of milk chocolate or perhaps Tootsie Roll, allspice, bananas foster, caramel, butterscotch and brown butter. The flavor is sweet and lush, but surprisingly bright and gentle with cinnamon toast, clove, charcoal and a hint of lemon zest. All the markers of a Highland tequila graciously taking on the characteristics of intense wood aging.

Gran Centenario Plata Tequila
Distiller Score 95
For a young tequila this has the weight and depth of something more mature. It's very fruity, with flavors of yellow peach, mangos, grapefruit peel and yellow bell peppers tinged with vanilla. It also has a pleasant spicy kick of black pepper, nutmeg and a faint whiff of smoke. This is a truly elegant sipping tequila.

Tequila Pueblo Viejo Añejo
Distiller Score 86
Oak-derived vanilla notes sit front and center in this medium-bodied aged tequila, but the sense of sweetness is quite subtle and pleasant. Rather than clash with or obscure the distillate character, the American oak aging seems to emphasize the darker side of agave, with lots of cacao bean, dried orange peel, coriander and black licorice. It's well-balanced, if not terribly nuanced: a good entry point for bourbon lovers into the world of agave spirits.

Tequila Orgullo Pueblo Viejo Añejo
Distiller Score 93
This is a fine dessert tequila with rich flavors that manage to compliment the inherent agave notes instead of smothering them in sweetness. Warm cinnamon, dulce de leche, vanilla and milk chocolate fold into surprisingly fresh and tart green apple and pear. More savory notes of stewed agave, chili pepper and roasted bell pepper appear toward the finish as in a good molé, cutting the richness and adding depth.

Antiguo de Herradura Tequila Añejo
Distiller Score 89
As soon as the bouquet begins to open in the glass, it becomes obvious that this tequila is going to be interesting. Notes of baked pears, flan, sweet potato casserole, honeysuckle, white pepper and cooked agave are all evident. On the palate, this is a light-bodied, slightly-oily añejo that leans towards the sweet side. More sweet potato and cooked agave, with big caramel notes, hints of strawberry jam, milk chocolate and pear tart flavors appear. At the finish, a slightly herbal note with hints of mint and lemon balm appear, along with more pepper, caramel and, at last, just the slightest whisper of oak. With an attractive price point, and a rich, satisfying flavor profile, this is a great tequila option to sip in place of single malt Scotch whisky or cognac.

Tequila Gran Dovejo Reposado
Distiller Score 93
A delightful bouquet with cinnamon, roasted agave, white pepper, mango and roasted pineapple lead into similar flavors on the palate. This is a very complex tequila, with pineapple, mango and papaya fruit complementing the agave, pepper and cinnamon notes. A hint of caramel flan and oak make an appearance midway through, before a medium finish of cinnamon, baking spice, and toasted oak ends things.

Herencia Mexicana Reposado Tequila
Distiller Score 90
The wood extraction is moderate; a great compromise between the wood and the agave flavors. It still retains its agave character. On the nose there are ample ginkgo berries, fresh carrots, mint, brown butter, fresh flowers and peach pie. The palate is spicy and succulent and full of allspice, vanilla, toast, bananas foster, marzipan and licorice root. Pale color, light in weight, a wonderfully balanced, workhorse tequila!

123 Organic Blanco (Uno) Tequila
Distiller Score 91
This unaged offering shows light and delicate floral aromas of lily and honeysuckle along with strong smells of raw agave nectar and fruity components of ripe peaches, watermelon and fresh-cut grass. There are earthy and citrus flavors found on the palate with wet clay, petrol, lemon peel, and sharp black pepper making impressions. The tequila is both complex and delicate displaying both the volcanic soil and the agave hearts themselves.

Tequila 1921 Añejo
Distiller Score 90
This very fruity agave tastes predominantly of vanilla, caramel and butterscotch with Christmas spices. Some lime zest, ginger and that telltale stewed agave flavor come in toward the finish. This is a very clean, sweet and easy to drink añejo that is best enjoyed neat in a good Cognac glass.

Calle 23 Tequila Añejo
Distiller Score 85
This is one of those dessert-like añejos. It's super creamy, chocolatey and rich. It's almost like drinking a caramel flan in chocolate sauce that's been sprinkled with a hit of freshly grated cinnamon. There is still some agave fruit shining through, though it's more of a baked, roasty flavor than the younger expressions. If you like a sweet añejo, this is for you.
