Absente Absinthe is distilled in Provence, France. The brand claims to be the first legal Absinthe distributed in the United States since 1912. Prior to 2009, this product used Artemisia Abrotanum (southernwood) rather than Artemisia Absinthium (grand wormwood) but it has since been reformulated to include grand wormwood .
In fact, the updated bottle now prominently displays "With Wormwood" in bold red lettering. The box features a triple-faced Vincent van Gogh and will often come with an absinthe spoon attached. Food coloring is used in its composition to give it its green color.
