Produced at the Alberta Distillery in Calgary, this is a 100% rye whisky. The bulk of what is produced here is actually shipped in a tanker across to the United States and bottled and sold by others; you may not know it, but you've likely had it if you drink rye. Alberta Premium is comprised of two whiskies distilled at different proofs, aged in new and used bourbon barrels for a minimum of 4 years. They are then blended together and aged further. In total, it is at least 5 years old with some whisky older than that in the blend.
CanadianDISTILLED IN CANADA AND AGED IN BARRELS FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS; OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) CANADIAN WHISKIES ARE BLENDS OF CORN, BARLEY, AND RYE WHISKIES WHICH WERE DISTILLED AND MATURED SEPARATELY. TRADITIONALLY, CANADIAN WHISKEY IS CALLED “RYE”, ALTHOUGH NO MINIMUM PERCENTAGE OF RYE-GRAIN WHISKY IS REQUIRED IN A BLEND.

"The nose presents with dark rye, apple skins, milk chocolate, and wood spices. The taste profile is enjoyable, but not particularly complex. It is a solid, smooth rye whisky with a nice roundness to take the edge off. Considering the price, you'd do well to pick up a bottle if for nothing else but making yourself a damn fine Manhattan cocktail."
