Nose is sweet and fruity, I'm guessing that's the port. Some wood and spice too though. The sugar reminds me of the flaky sugar on top of a baked pastry. The palate is delicious and reminds me of the toasted sugar on a turnover with just a bit of the cherry jelly on the bready part. That develops into some spice and wood. The nose and palate spice are for sure cinnamon but I'm not sure what else. The finish is spicy and woody and lasts a respectable time. Overall good dram and worth the try.
Savory and Complex:
This whiskey is inviting and has a lot going on. The most prominent tastes to me are dark fruit, wood and something savory. I also get vanilla, some sweetness, some spiciness, and maybe a touch of maltiness. Finally, at first the mouthfeel was a bit oily, but after a while I seemed to not notice. To me this whiskey has no off flavors, and was enjoyable all the way throughout
