Love the islay juice in a sweet cask. Rum provides a more tangy, lighter sweetness than Sherry. Nose has smoky peat, a bit of sweetness, and stale doritos. Body is creamy and the rum sweetness really comes through. Nice finish with a bit of alcohol. Very unique, very good.
Delicious. My first foray into rum finished islay. Had this blind in an advent calendar and couldn’t place it because Of the sweet smoky peat on the palate. Had I known this was an ardbeg I’d have characterized it as subtle. I appreciate the smoke being muted here as it gives way to aromatic spices, citrus and sweet phenols.
Классический торфяной аромат и вкус после первого глотка дополняются ароматами тропических фруктов и орехов, а чуть позже звуками марракасов, но это уже после второго глотка.
Nose reminds me of tequila at first. Some peat, earthy smoke, and brine.
Taste is more briney smoke, a bit of baked sweetness, and some spice.
Finish is spicey and smokey.

There are aromas of peat, hickory, ripe banana, pineapple, and oak. The taste is more delicate than the nose would incline. Smoke overlays everything lightly. It starts with a vanilla note and ends with a note of raw cacao. There is also a slight hint of burnt rubber.
