Ardbeg Drum

Powerful burning finish after a surprisingly sweet start. Starts with a bright fruit taste but holy moly it burns down your throat.

Smoky and salty and delicious

Nose: peat, smoke, banana and red apple Taste: smoke, spicey (cinnamon), vanilla and sweetness. Finish: sweetness lingers with smoke Great, different dram. Would love to try more rum cask Islays.

Love the islay juice in a sweet cask. Rum provides a more tangy, lighter sweetness than Sherry. Nose has smoky peat, a bit of sweetness, and stale doritos. Body is creamy and the rum sweetness really comes through. Nice finish with a bit of alcohol. Very unique, very good.

Delicious. My first foray into rum finished islay. Had this blind in an advent calendar and couldn’t place it because Of the sweet smoky peat on the palate. Had I known this was an ardbeg I’d have characterized it as subtle. I appreciate the smoke being muted here as it gives way to aromatic spices, citrus and sweet phenols.
