First pour, pineapple really stood out on the nose, but the palate really seemed a little disjointed. 3/4+ through the bottle I've started to enjoy it quite a bit more. Would like to try the CR, but this isn't quite good enough to fork out what the CR goes for these days...
Super strong peat smell, but also subtle sweetness with it too. Strange combination. It tastes absolutely like ardbeg, just a little sweeter, sweetness from fruit I think. Still rich, peaty, and wonderful with an excellent tail.
A softening of typical Ardbeg core. The campfire is there but it’s tamed by a sweetness and iodine. The sweetness is mellowed with water and allows almond, walnut and bandaids. Similar to laphroaig 10 in some ways.
Much thinner in body than the laphroaig, but richer in flavour (and smoke!!). The palate features tangerine rind. An excellent dram that while not worth the price of admission, is still very enjoyable.
