Tastes

Nose: musty, raspberry fruit, banana and maybe grape at the end Taste: leather, hay, smoke/peat and vanilla sweetness Finish: creamy long with some spice Big taste, as expected from this distillery. Great complexity for an older 46% ABV.

Nose: peat, smoke, caramel and rubber Taste: Ardbeg peat (rubber) and smoke with a balance of coffee, earth and raisin Finish: long peat and char Amazing dram. It does not get much better than this. Even at this lower ABV, amazing balance of flavors. I need to try the higher ABV version so it’s not a perfect score, but it is my highest rated and with good reason.

Nose: sweetness, peat, salted brine Taste: lemon, peat, brine, spiced pepper Finish: peated, long oily finish Very nice, solid dram with great flavors and easy drinking.

Nose: vanilla, rose, honey, licorice almost bourbon like Taste: subtle, orange, vanilla cream, some hay with cinnamon spice Finish: medium length, slight peppery spice Small ABV bite but drinks easy. Very nice Irish, with some complexity, worth it at a reasonable price.

Nose: pear, peat, banana Taste: banana, peat, brine, apple, vanilla Finish: walnut banana bread with salt/brine. Long herbal finish. Good whisky. Really like the PC but prefer the 10 year.

Nose: orange, chocolate and smoke Taste: weak, some spice, cherry, raisins and peat Finish: soft, short finish Disappointing, not very strong with minimal taste.

Nose: Sherry, cherry, orange, cloves Taste: pepper spice, floral notes Finish: oily long finish of chocolates and spice Several layers in this whisky. It’s spicey/burn through out but underneath it moves from floral to chocolate and spice. Very good. I was pleasantly surprised how much I like this.

Nose: honey, pear and light smoke Taste: pear, fruity with Smoke Finish: Smokey long, sharp finish Fruity and rich with a pleasant smoke from initial taste to the finish.

Nose: iodine, vanilla, peat Taste: smoked meat, pepper, honey sweetness, salted caramel Finish: medium finish, flavors fade to sweetness Definitely Ardbeg but the sweetness of honey and salted caramel give it some uniqueness. Great dram.

Nose: cherry and dark fruits, wood (oak), grapes Taste: spicy, alcohol heat, vanilla and oak Finish: long spicy finish turning to sweetness and wood An explosion of spice and flavor, especially for an Irish.
