Ardbeg Fermutation
Single Malt
Ardbeg // Islay, Scotland
Ardbeg Fermutation is a limited edition release offered to the brand's Committee Members. Due to an issue with the distillery's boilers back in December 2007, wash in its six washbacks were fermented for three weeks rather than the standard 3 days making this the longest fermentation in Ardbeg's history.
The whisky was aged for 13 years and bottled without chill filtration. Released February 2022.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is very beachy, with aromas of seaweed and brine mixing with burning herbs such as sage, thyme, and tarragon. The palate of this light to medium-bodied whisky veers more toward savory than sweet — salty, briny, herbal — almost like a liquid version of an herbed cracker topped with sea salt. It gets a tad sweeter with further sips, with tangy apricot, pear, golden apple, and a tinge of honey. The smoke element is akin to a freshly lit coal BBQ pit on a beach, with a hint of rubber tires mixed in. The finish ends in with a lasting smoky-sweet-salty vibe, and a touch of heat. "
