Arran The Devil's Punch Bowl Chapter III The Fiendish Finale
Arran // Islands, Scotland
This is the third and final edition of Arran’s lauded cask-strength special release. A vatting of eight sherry butts, five ex-bourbon casks and eight French barriques, this big-flavored whisky does well with a little water. This is a very exciting expression of one of Scotland’s youngest distilleries (est. 1995)
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.
Cask TypeFrench oak, ex-sherry, ex-bourbon
"High-toned and mineral on the nose with ginger, fresh peach and citrus, and an unusual clay-like minerality. Spicy and warming on the palate with big notes of vanilla and cinnamon, candied apple and pear, white pepper and a waxy, oxidative, almost rancio quality. Balanced and harmonious at 53.4% abv, a little water helps the whole thing unwind and show additional layers of complexity"
