Arta Tequila is a family-owned business in the valley region of El Arenal, Jalisco overseen by 3rd generation master distiller Angel Gonzalez. They pride themselves on being "steeped in tradition and rooted in rebellion." Their añejo expression is aged 24 - 36 months in ex-Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Note: the packaging features a unique triangular-shaped, handmade glass bottle with a Dio de los Muertos sugar skull.

Distilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least a year in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, but ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Añejo tequilas are also known as "aged" or "extra aged".

Tasting Notes

"The agave flavors hold up well here, though in a very concentrated, stewed form. It's also remarkably dry for such a mature bourbon-barrel añejo with zesty flavors of lime and grapefruit peel and herbal notes of thyme, rosemary, and mint. A spice road blend of cinnamon, clove, and cardamom is sprinkled over caramel, vanilla, and toffee with a hint of smoked meat on the finish. "
