Gran Centenario Reposado Tequila
Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Gran Centenario is a brand that was founded by Lazaro Gallardo in the late 1800s. This reposado is made from 10-12 year old agave grown in Los Altos, Jalisco and aged 6 months in charred, new French Limousin oak barrels. Fun fact: the bottle depicts an angel who is thought to keep a watchful eye on the agave growing in the fields.
Tequila ReposadoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged from 2 months up to a year in barrels no larger than 20,000 L. Any type of wood is acceptable, although ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Reposado translates to "rested".
"The contact with the charred oak manifests in a spicy, peppery style of reposado with a delightfully smoky kick. Chili peppers and cinnamon spice fan out a bit on the palate to reveal vegetal and tropical fruity notes. Very pleasant to sip."
