1792 Port Finish
Barton 1792 // Kentucky, USA
The second edition to Barton's 1792 series is the Barton 1792 Port Finish Bourbon. Like the 1792 Sweet Wheat Bourbon, it's also a limited release. Here, the bourbon was aged for six years in its original new charred American white oak barrels. It was then transferred out and spent another two years in ex-port wine casks, aiming to blend the worlds of vanilla and rich fruits.
BourbonProduced anywhere in USA; Mash bill of at least 51% corn; aged in new, charred oak barrels.

"The nose showcases vanilla, caramel and honey upfront, along with melon, rye spice, black pepper, and an intermingling of the dark red fruit sweetness of the port. The palate then falls a bit flat and one note after an enticing bouquet. Its woody and oaky notes are dominant, and overall soft and oily. The finish is warm, with a return of caramel sweetness and spice. Much improved with ice, which manages to bring out more flavor, with molasses, char and hints of brown sugar on the palate, moving to a finish with stronger port influence, with red fruits, honey and apricot."
