Darkness hints to the color of this series of Scotch single malt releases from Atom Brands, tied together by maturation in sherry casks. Many single casks have been released previously under this label, but Darkness 8 Year is an ongoing release from an undisclosed distillery. After an initial maturation in ex-bourbon barrels, this single malt was finished in small oloroso octave casks for at least 3 months.

Tasting Notes
"Lots of vanilla pods, but also subtle notes of raisin, balsamic, bitter orange peel and a good amount of triple sec. Some soft spices in the background—think cinnamon. The palate feels a bit more engineerd: the syrupy, sweet, drying influence of the sherry octaves is undeniable. It lacks a bit of balance between spirit and cask."
