BenRiach Arumaticus Fumosus 12 Year
Single Malt
Benriach // Speyside, Scotland
BenRiach has gotten into the habit of naming their peaty whiskies with Latin names. "Fumosus" means "smoky" and though, there really isn't a Latin word for "rum", "Arumaticus" sounds like it would work.
Aged initially in American oak barrels, the whisky is then finished in Jamaican rum barrels. .

Tasting Notes
""Hogo" is a term used in the rum drinking world to describe a funky quality in some rum. A derivation of the French "haut gout" which means "high taste", hogo is something that comes about in rum production and something that most giant rum brands try to get rid of in their rum. But some producers realize that some of us gotta have that funk. Because of the peat factor, this may even remind you of a mezcal. Raisins and wood spices are discovered as well. Definitely one to try as these flavor combinations don't come around everyday. "
