Their malt is peated at about a 15 ppm level with peat from the mainland rather than the islands.

Ardmore had, up until very recently, been utilized as a primary malt for Teacher's blended whiskies. Their malt is peated at about a 15 ppm level with peat from the mainland rather than the islands. This Traditional Cask bottling is aged for 6-13 years in American oak before being transferred to smaller Quarter Casks to finish the aging process for another year.

Tasting Notes

"A variety of aromas hit the nose such as hay, dark chocolate, orange zest, and moss. Peat smoke is present, but plays a minor part here. The body has a slight oily quality to it and the taste is full of malt, barrel spices, and honey. The peat smoke turns up the volume on the finish and is the last to leave the party. "
