Reviewed July 29, 2023 (edited November 16, 2024)After time, the oak char has settled more into the sweetness, almost like drinking an older 'dusty' bourbon and has made this enjoyable. Before opening up. it was so bitter, but it has improved dramatically. It took so long to open up too that I may give double-oaked and charred bourbons more time before reviewing. (Original review: I was excited about this release and thought it would upgrade the already good Bib & Tucker 6 year bourbon, but it nukes it. The nose and palate still contain the yummy cola/root beer notes that B & T excel at, but on the back palate and finish the oak and char announce their presence and it's bitter, hot, and spicy.)54.99 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed June 29, 2023 (edited November 16, 2024)A dark perfume of oak char and roasted corn on the nose. Readily inviting and full of conviviality. The taste is lighter than expected of a double char, but this is of benefit, as it allows the flavor of the mash bill to come through more clearly. A somewhat heavy entry leads to warm and bouncy bourbon flavors enrobed in a blanket of wood. The finish is long and ends with a smooth and satisfying finish. Overall, this is an excellent whiskey and one which you will find yourself making fast friends with.
