Reviewed March 2, 2021 (edited December 20, 2021)I'm not sure I understand the hate for this. It's really low proof, a bit one-note, and isn't complex - but, it's not offensive or undrinkable like some bourbons and whiskeys I've had. Nose is really faint, almost imperceptible. If anything, it smells like generic bourbon but extremely watered down and muted - which it essentially is. Initial flavor is a touch of fall apple, slightly baked. There's cinnamon in the finish upon chewing. There is a slight minerality and peach/apricot/stone-fruit quality that reminds me of Dickel - but to a far lesser degree than most actual Dickel products. I can hold this in my mouth for maybe 5-10 seconds, before it even starts to pick up the slightest spice/burn. I dare say I even like how crisp this is. This reminds me of standard Jim Beam profile without the peanut. If it can be had for under $18, I don't think it's the worst purchase. It's currently $15 at the nearby state-controlled store. There are definitely better bottles at $20, but there are bottles at $30-$40 that are far worse. Take that as you will.15.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed February 18, 2020Love the labels but the whiskey is not great. Missing any impact in the flavor, it's very boring, and it can't even stand up to Coke that well. Maybe the aged stuff is a little better, buy I'll probably just stick to the flavored versions if I buy this brand.19.99 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed July 4, 2019On the nose, pretty non-descript. On the tongue, a dash of whiskey and alcohol burn. Decent for a cheap bottle of whiskey but I wouldn’t buy it again. Commercial moonshine or white lightning is better than this.16.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed May 21, 2019Bought this because of the label. Knew nothing about it. My tasting notes suck. Tastes oak-y and it burns -

Reviewed January 14, 2019I used to think this was pretty good before I started trying more bourbons like Buffalo Trace, Knob Creek, Elijah Craig.. Etc., For the money, Ezra Brooks Black is far better. Bird Dog has a front-forward, vanillaish nose and front-end that kind of tapers down to the taste of Texas lake -kind of a like earthy lake water. dirty. I've noticed a lot of the cheaper bourbons wear on me this way. Not anything I'd buy again. -

Reviewed January 13, 2019Extremely light color, very little age, and tastes heavily of water and smoke. Without telling me, I'd guess this is one of those legal grocery store 40 proof bourbons. Finishes actually decently, with rye spice lingering past the lower flavor profiles. I suppose it is and does taste like bourbon, but what you would buy if you wanted something different from Jim Beam but still with the lack of flavor.
