Black Bottle XO Brandy
Other Brandy
Vok Beverages // South Australia, Australia
Produced using doradilla, palmino and sultana grapes, Black Bottle XO is an Australian gem, with roots dating as far back as the mid-18th century when Thomas Hardy crafted his wine company aside the River Torrens in Adelaide, South Australia. Following Cognac tradition, the wine is double-distilled in pot stills, with maturation taking place in Limousin casks from Cognac itself.
In late 2011, holder Accolade wines sold the Black Bottle XO and its younger cousin to spirit specialist Vok Beverages with the distillery moving to Renmark, South Australia. (Note: This is currently only available in Australia.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is wooded, with tart nuts, port and coca moving through. The nose is stilled for a while before moving into fresh eucalyptus, nutmeg and cinnamon, a gradual change that eases the body and is welcomed. On the palate, we return to the port, with cocoa turning to chocolate and the wood returning. After a while, its moves into Muscat territory, with tarting fruits following with a small puckering mouth feel, with the finish following suit but bringing the nutty characteristics forward one last time."
