Black Patch Rye

Reviewed November 13, 2022The second barreling appears to really add some nice oak to the flavor. The nose is weak as it is young and the finish is really short and gets a little dry. The rye flavor though is dense for a younger product which makes it enjoyable. Should make some good cocktails because it has a nice unaltered rye spice. Glad to have supported this veteran's effort in Alabama. -

Reviewed June 8, 2020A little more oak and char than your normal rye. They do a double barrel process. At around 2 years, still tastes a little young but not too bad. Would probably mostly have it as a mixer for now. I will be interested to see how it turns out after a little more aging. Price is high. But that's mostly due to AL's stupidly insane liquor prices.8.0 USD per Shot -

Reviewed April 8, 2020From memory. This reminded me of Evil Evan. Both whiskeys from black patch have very heavy charring, with some water it gets a tad better, but the charred oak taste dominated the bottle. It honestly didn't taste much like rye. I gave it away, and I don't recommend it at that price range.
