Black Velvet Onyx 12 Year
Canadian
Black Velvet // Alberta, Canada
Black Velvet Onyx was distilled and aged at Lethbridge, Alberta’s Black Velvet Distillery using a process they call “blending at birth”. This process takes two-year-old corn whisky and two-year-old rye whisky blended with newly-distilled base whisky. The blend is barreled in used bourbon barrels where the whisky is aged for an additional 12 years.
Onyx also contains some older whiskies. Note: Not available for sale in the U.S.

Tasting Notes
"Cinnamon spice leads the nose, but the flavor scales are calibrated from the dry side to faint caramel sweet notes blended with woody rye spice. The wood introduces loads of vanilla on the palate building layers of flavor including fruit-charged baking spices. The whisky cleans up nicely in the finish where grapefruit citrus pith is accented by vanilla toffee. This is a cohesive Canadian blend. "
