Blackland Texas Pecan Brown Sugar Bourbon

Reviewed December 3, 2024 (edited December 4, 2024)To be honest, this doesn't smell very good...it's got an unshakeable chemical aroma with a dusting of cinnamon. Fortunately, it tastes better than it smells: like pecan-infused maple syrup with a long, sweet burn the only assurance that this is, in fact, alcohol. Unfortunately, the nutty overtones are still a bit chemically, which parses as staleness or rancidity when paired with nut flavor. I was excited to try this, but I'm glad I didn't buy a full bottle. If you're in the market for a "treat" bourbon, tried-and-true Southern Comfort is superior. -

Reviewed April 13, 2024On the nose there is a strong aroma of brown sugar, pecan, and maple syrup. First sip is soft on the pallet and has the obvious notes listed above. My biggest observation is this would be good to cook with, over waffles, or adeed to a Sunday morning cup of coffee. When ice is added there is the illusion of the liquid thickening and becoming more of a cough sryup consistency, although that could just be my perception. This isnt very complex from a bourbon standpoint but offers other advantages like cook-ability or ised with other foods. Im not rushing out to get more but i will enjoy it while I have a bottle.
