Cabo Wabo Blanco Tequila
Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Cabo Wabo was founded in 1996 by rock musician Sammy Hagar, who wanted his own brand to serve at his cantina in Cabo San Lucas. He partnered with a traditional distillery that prides itself on tried and true methods of tequila production. This tequila is made from agave aged between 8 - 12 years, twice distilled and bottled immediately without any steel aging. Sammy is no longer affiliated with the brand after selling all his stakes to the Gruppo Campari brand.
Tequila BlancoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is typically unaged , clear, and bottled straight after distillation. Sometimes rested in stainless steel up to 60 days and can also be aged in wood for no more than 30 days.
"This tequila is fairly sippable, with a balanced play between minerality, saltiness and vanilla sweetness. A pleasant cinnamon spice finish rounds it out. There seems to be more vanilla and salt than flowers or fruit. For a tequila marketed in the premium category, it could definitely use more complexity."
