Reviewed July 11, 2024In 1960, José Maria Santana, better known as Zé Santana, began to produce cachaça in a small watermill in Guaraciaba, Minas Gerais. The product was sold and delivered on the back of donkeys by the tropeiros. The fame of cachaça spread throughout the region and demand increased, causing the mill to be replaced by a larger one, powered by steam. Five years later, the Guaraciaba brand was registered, and the troop of donkeys was replaced by a truck. In a short time, it was already one of the favorite drinks in the capital. Today, Cachaça Guaraciaba is managed by Zé Santana's successor and manufactured between June and October, producing from 400,000 to 600,000 liters of cachaça per year. Cachaça Guaraciaba Extra Premium Carvalho Francês is aged for three years in French oak barrels. Robust and potent (alcohol content of 42%) but at the same time sophisticated and elegant, balanced, woody and with a pleasant sweetness. (Visual) Clear, it has a beautiful amber color typical of aging in oak barrels. Abundant tears on the glass. (Nose) The delicious aroma of vanilla, caramel, dried fruits and sugar cane touch. (Mouth) Good body, alcohol balanced with the essences of oak wood and other components. Sensory rich. Low acidity does not unbalance the set, which has a prolonged finish.
