It’s been more than a decade since I brought a bottle of this back from Mexico on the recommendation of a bartender, not really knowing what it was or much about tequila in general. I do remember enjoying the hell out of it, but in a way that wasn’t critical; not surprising considering tequila to me was Cuervo, Patron and Sauza.
Having it now for the first time in forever, with an entirely different point of view, appreciation and level of experience.
And it’s great.
On the nose lemon merengue pie, pound cake, potent vanilla, agave, a touch of oak and flowers. On the palate it’s all of the above, but oakier and slightly less sweet with light black pepper and vegetal agave elements. Super smooth and delicious. The only thing keeping it from a 5 is that it may be a little too sweet.
