Clear Creek Pot-Distilled Brandy
Clear Creek // Oregon, USA
This brandy from Clear Creek in Portland, Oregon is comprised of wines from the Pacific Northwest which are distilled. It is then aged in a combination of new and old Limousin oak from France. It is bottled at 85 proof.
American BrandyProduced in the US, this is usually referring to brandy distilled from grape-based wine. If the producer uses other fruit, it must be stated on the label. If aged under two years in oak, it must state the word "immature" on the label. Beyond that, labels such as VS, VSOP, and XO mean little as the brands themselves dictate what that means to them.
"The aroma on the fruit here leans more in the orchard fruit family like apples and pears. The taste is slightly tannic (rough) and astringent. Cinnamon spices come through on the full body. This is young and could benefit from a little more time in barrel."
