Cocchi Americano
Americano is a category of aperitif wines with its name coming from the Italian word "amaricante" which means "bittered." It is primarily flavored with gentian and can be colored yellow or red. Cocchi Americano has been continuously produced since it was first created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi.
In addition to the required gentian, other botanicals include artemisia, cinchona bark, bitter orange peel, and elderflower among others. Moscato wine is used as the base. Serve with ice, soda, and an orange peel.

Tasting Notes
"Aromas of sweet herbs and woodsy botanicals — mint, thyme, pine needle — mix with pear and stone fruits on the nose. The palate combines honeyed flavors of golden apple, quince, lemon, and pear with earthy alpine notes, bay leaf, thyme, rosemary, sassafras, cinchona bark, and mint. It leans somewhat to the fruity side, with a honeyed finish, but with a balanced grip from the botanical mix. "
