Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Straight Rye

Off the nose comes a sweetness, not much of a rye smell. On first sip, I got a strong apple flavor and then the spiciness of the rye. There is a sweetness hidden behind it. The finish has notes of a sour apple and isn't too harsh on the burn. Overall, this is a rye I could find myself drinking. I have determined I don't care much for rye with the exception of some finished ryes.

Got this bad boy in my first ever VAABC lottery win. Not a huge rye guy but couldn’t pass it up. Taste starts off as a peppermint. Love the finish—sweeter than expected for a rye. Happy to get to try it. Just wish I liked ryes more. Now to find an EHT small batch…
