First of all PEAT, this is a single malt Peated Whisky from Ireland
nose: bonfire smoke and fruits, like a lighter Ardbeg 10, honey, citrus,
Palate: light texture, fruits and smoke.
A little sweet caramel.
The finish is medium but something is missing here, the nose is nice but then a bit too light.
The smoke on the nose is not aggressive, but depending on what you’ve been acclimated to it’s either dominant with hints of cinnamon and salt or a nice compliment to green apples that once you find you can’t unfind. The nose makes me think this is what a peated Green Spot would smell like which, for me, sounds perfect. The taste is more subtle than the nose but the same flavors, which makes me wonder how good this would be at a higher proof. It’s good but I think I still prefer Green Spot even though I’m a peat head.
All the classic Irish whiskey taste with a subtle, smoked finish.
A touch sweeter than most Irish I've tried, Heather honey in particular shines through. Really smooth and easy sipping, the smoke brings an interesting edge. Not brash or dominating, just lingers on the palate. Yeah this is actually really good 👍🏻
