Connemara Original Peated Single Malt

Barley comes forward across the board. Many of the classically Irish notes are present, but the addition of the peat makes it that much more nuanced and fascinating. Far less intense on the peat than its Islay counterparts, which allows you to pick up the sweetness, most notably on the nose. Best neat. Would make for a great intro to peat as a whole!

I have to say, very pleasantly surprised. Nose is baked honey on car rubber. Think white wall tyres. The palette has no Irish unmalted twang but does have a peculiar flavor I’ve found no where else. I’m going to say licorice gummy. Finish is balanced smoke. Recommended over Red Breast but still second to Powers for me. Slainte!
