Cooperstown Select Straight Single Malt Whiskey

Good nose. Buttery, carmelly but heavy barrel. maybe it’s just the name but I smell a wood bat. I smell leather. I smell baseball. Says it’s sherry cask finished. I get that fruited note as well. First Taste is definitely Young and bold. I get a lot of burnt (but good) notes. Burnt apple. Burnt carmel. Good spicy feel. Love the barrel proof and big alcohol content. Complex. There are plenty of finer whiskeys out there, but this is a really good one to explore. Especially for the $15 deal I found!

Holy cow, this is great. On the nose before the first taste, I get a serious new-vinyl nose. I love it.

A continuing process of discovery with every sip. I can't believe the depth and complexity here. Buttery and smooth on the tongue, long easy finish. Dark and oily. Sneaky proof rating, I was guessing in the 90s but the bartender surprised me at 103! Butterscotch, woody, mature tasting with some surprising greenness after the 3rd or 4th sip.
