Courvoisier Avant-Garde Bourbon Cask Edition
Courvoisier // Cognac, France
Courvoisier Avant-Garde Bourbon Cask Edition is a limited edition release from the brand and the first in the Avant-Garde series. The blend was created by master blender Patrice Pinet and master distiller Benoît DeSutter. They began by selecting VS cognac and then finished its maturation in former Kentucky bourbon barrels. As cognac regulations limit used barrels to wine or fortified wine, this spirit is not allowed to be called cognac. Bottled at 80 proof.
Other BrandyBrandy distilled from any type of fruit-based wine produced anywhere in the world. Not referring to any of the designated or protected areas such as Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados, etc.
Cask Typefinished in Kentucky bourbon barrels
"Simple in its elements, but displays a fairly even marriage between the softer notes of cognac and the more assertive flavors from the bourbon barrel. Aromas of cinnamon and toasted nuts yield to a brighter orange peel note. Vanilla and cotton candy lead the way at the front of the tongue with more terse barrel tannins closing out. "
