Cruzan Diamond Dark Rum

The Diamond Dark Rum is a blend of rums from Cruzan that are aged from five to 12 years. It is made from imported molasses and aged in American oak. Hardy Nelthropp, Cruzan’s Master Distiller from 1959-2007 originally created this rum which was released to the market in 2013.
Dark RumAKA Black Rum. Usually aged (but not always) and has additional caramel-coloring added to provide the dark/black color. Some are distilled from blackstrap molasses. No specific type or size barrel required for aging nor is there a set time required for aging in most countries with a few exceptions.
"Caramel, vanilla and just a whiff of heat and wood appear on the nose; the temperature turns back up on the palate, but it's softened by intimations of baked pear and more fragrant vanilla, all of which dissipate quickly on a short finish further distinguished by a hint of tannin. Reasonable as a sipper but better with a splash of mineral water."
