Dailuaine 34 Year (2015 Special Release)
Dailuaine // Speyside , Scotland
Dailuaine is not well known to many drinkers as a single malt, as it is most commonly used as a blending component for Johnnie Walker. However, as part of the 2015 Special Releases series from Diageo, this Scotch has been bottled in its oldest expression as a single malt, distilled in 1980. It was aged in second-fill American oak hogshead, bottled at 51% ABV, limited to around 680 bottles worldwide.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.

"Age has imparted a lot of chocolate flavors to the malt, not just one type, but milk, bittersweet, malted cocoa, and even a hint of sweet white chocolate. Its also got quite a bit of oakiness, adding some tannins, ginger and notes of black tea that linger into the finish. There's not much fruit here (and most of it dried), but a couple of drops of water allow herbal notes and more spice to come into play. "
