Distillery No. 209 Kosher for Passover Vodka
Distillery No. 209 // California, USA
Made eschewing leavened grained (prohibited during Passover), Distillery No. 209 has created the world first certified Kosher for Passover vodka. The base is cane sugar that is distilled five times under the eye of the Orthodox Union on San Francisco’s Pier 50 facility.
Unflavored VodkaDistilled from any agricultural product, most commonly grains or potatoes. Typically distilled to 95% ABV. Water is added to bring the spirit down to as low as 37.5% ABV in the EU and 40% ABV in the US. It is usually filtered, often with charcoal, prior to bottling. It is almost always clear and unaged.
"The multiple distillations have created a vodka with a slightly sweet nose reminiscent of vanilla cake frosting and dried flowers. No funky cane aromas found in agricole rhum are present here. The palate has admirable richness and echoes the impression of sweetness before finishing with a crispness and pleasant hint of alcohol. A very highly mixable tipple that plays nicely with others in classical cocktails like the greyhound or Cape Cod."
