Caramel, taffy and sugar nose with some grassy citrus. Nuts, oak, summer fruit and vanilla palate. Pretty mellow. Oak and mild spice finish. Top of the affordable 100 proof class. Fighting with Old Grandad 100, Wheel Horse 101, Piggyback and Wild Turkey 101. A worthy contender for Buffalo Trace.
Smooth and no afterburn, warm cinnamon and butterscotch. One of the best tasting bourbons on the shlef for less than $30. Rivals some of those allocated bourbons that folks go crazy for….
This is quite a fine bourbon. It opens with a little bit if alcohol on the nose that turns to a sweet/rich flavor that is quite pleasant. On the palate you get a zap of flavor that is followed with a surprisingly long sweet vanilla bean finish. For the price point this hangs around this is a real treat. It reminds me of a sazerac rye 6year with a little less spice.
Very proofy, no fruit sweetness at all, spice and nutiness are a bit overwhelming. Heard good things and it’s by no means bad, but for me it’s unimpressive. There’s better to be had even at this bargain price point.
Nose:
Some vanilla and leather with a faint ethanol burn.
Palate:
A little bit of vanilla, orange peel, and some dried cherry. Medium finish with a little bit if heat.
Overall:
A solid pour, especially considering the price!
