I’m a long time drinker and fan of ED15; ....finally bought the 12 and have enjoyed it thus far. A bit softer and sweeter than the 15; ....less oaky and (bitter) chocolatey. Full bodied and the
character changes as you progress through the glass, but not quite as dense and complex as the 15. Overall, I like this one a lot thus far. On par with the 15.
Nose: molasses and heavy Chocolate, almost like a tootsie roll
Some grassy Vegetel notes once arreated in the glass
Taste: Mouthfeel is thinner than what you expect from the smell, sort of Coco Vegetel sweet mollasesy flavor.
Overall: 8/10 tasty and solid but definitely missing some flavor/complexity for sipping
This stuff is dangerous. During this bourbon craze I decided to go back to my roots of tequila and rum where I can find exceptional bottles for reasonable prices. This 12 year El Dorado is unlike any rum I’ve had with a sweetness and amazing taste that is hard to beat for under $30. My next scoop will be a foursquare to see if it’s worth the price and hype surrounding it.
