I get strong molasses and brown sugar on the nose, with a healthy (but not overpowering) earthiness. Brown sugar taste, moderate body, some burn. Can taste some of the barrel. Doesn’t taste as “finished” as the 15 year, but also doesn’t seem to have as much added sugar. A great value rum for sipping.

Im new to the rum game so i didnt know what 'hogo' or 'funk' tastes like. But i learned from the description that this is it. Its a bit of an acquired taste, i dont hate it but i dont love it either. It has a little bit of a whiskey vibe in the aftertaste with the accompanying burn.
Smooth, not too sweet, and it being aged in ex whiskey casks makes a lot of sense from how it tastes. Probably a good rum for whiskey heads to start with. Little bit of ice takes the edge off the burn
