"Interesting and funky departure from the standard 5 year old. The aromas on the nose are quite unique for a rum. The port cask influence is almost overwhelming at first. Left in the glass, the nose reveals a blackberry jammy quality with a slightly oaky backbone. The flavour profile is earthy, musty sweetness reminiscent of a wine cellar with a dirt floor. The finish is somewhat tannic and warming. Oak barrel influence is very apparent. Enjoyed it much more with a few ice cubes."
