St. George's Distillery, where English Whisky Co. is produced, is the first in England for over 120 years. They use local barley grown by the Nelstrop family, and water from Breckland. The unpeated version is made very much in the style of a light, Scottish Highlands single malt.
"A light, almost summery whisky. If this were an Elvis Costello song, it would be "Uncomplicated." Easy to drink, with grassy and golden fruit notes. Finishes a little short. For those who like something smooth going down that they don't have to ponder over too much, this is perfect. One can almost say, like most English chaps, it's a very "polite" sort of dram. Nothing that would really ruffle your feathers there or start a row. Note: this review is for the regular, not cask strength version."
