A Graanjenever means that the product is made from grain and not molasses. This 5 Year Oude from Filliers is made from a malt wine made from corn (aka maize), rye, and barley malt. A juniper distillate is added. Both components are aged in American oak for 5 years prior to blending together. It is bottled at 38% ABV and is currently only available in Europe.

Tasting Notes

"The nose is young and malty, with fresh notes of juniper, as well as nutmeg and orange. The palate displays a lovely fruitiness (think red apple), followed by cinnamon and cardamom, before ending on grassy notes. The balance of this drink is impressive, especially at this age."
