Finger Lakes Distilling Brandy
American Brandy
Finger Lakes Distilling // New York, USA
Finger Lakes Distilling Brandy is an aged, Cognac-style brandy made from a blend of vinifera and native grapes. As a New York State Farm Distillery, they source all of the grapes for this brandy from their local region, the Finger Lakes.
After fermentation, the wine is distilled in a copper 350-gallon pot still with a 20-foot rectification column. This is followed by aging in used whiskey barrels for 3 - 4 years.

American BrandyProduced in the US, this is usually referring to brandy distilled from grape-based wine. If the producer uses other fruit, it must be stated on the label. If aged under two years in oak, it must state the word "immature" on the label. Beyond that, labels such as VS, VSOP, and XO mean little as the brands themselves dictate what that means to them.

Tasting Notes
"Very inviting and intriguing nose, right out of the gate. Lots of floral notes, cotton candy, and a distinct aroma of green grapes. It is very light and restrained and completely pleasurable. The palate starts with a sweet heat and the barrel notes that were absent on the nose, vanilla, gingerbread, and star anise, but is still quite restrained. Medium-bodied and rich and definitely true to the nose, green grapes, white flowers, and a hint of waxy apple skins follow. Very bright flavors are found and on the long finish more of the barrel spices open up. A great introduction to the category for a novice brandy drinker. Highly recommend drinking neat or with a single rock. "
