Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon (OBSK)

The Four Roses I had was not this private selection but it was an OBSK and oddly enough the first time I tried it I did not like it. After a few weeks it quickly became a favorite of mine and I enjoyed finishing it off with my brother. The spicy profile of the OBSK is right up my alley and I will always buy one of these if I can find it.

61%, warehouse RS, barrel 24-4G, 10yr6mo Bourbon enthusiasts Sip of Prosecco to cleanse the palate Floral and vanilla nose. Slight brown sugar notes, pecan, dry floral notes on the tongue. Stronger floral notes on the back end, slight spice, caramel, oak starts to shine in the finish, along with orange peel, vanilla. Very clean.

Hard to find but worth it. High rye gives it a nice spicy vanilla character. Toasty and warm, but not much burn for something over 120 proof.

Mint chocolate cookies on the nose. Creme brulee and spice on the palette. Long spicy finish.

Gordon’s selection. Aged 9 years 10 months. Bottled 12/6/19. 64.0% ABV. Rich chocolate, big oak, mint, on the dry side.
