I was hoping for a cheaper alternative to the Balvenie Caribbean when I bought this. It's not on the same level, unfortunately. It's not a bad sipping whisky, but it's finish is abrupt and I don't get much of the rum notes on the passage. The hint of sweetness is making me hopeful it will pair well with a cigar, which will be my next tasting.34.99 USD per Bottle

Herradura Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed November 23, 2022 (edited April 29, 2023)This one is growing on me. I think I am recalibrating after being on a bourbon kick for so long. The nose is mild and a bit green (make me think of smoked peppers). Smooth and peppery on the palate, just a hint of caramel sweet. -
Woodinville Straight Bourbon Port Cask Finish
Bourbon — Washington, USA
Reviewed April 3, 2022 (edited April 6, 2022)Tastes like a hybrid of bourbon and an unpeated scotch. I would have guessed a much higher amount of malted barley than 6 %. The rye peeks through on the nose more than the palate. Very light in the mouth, and the flavors of wood and vanilla and malt dance around distinctly if not in great unison. I think I'll like this more as I drink it, but for now I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it. -
Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 1, 2022 (edited April 21, 2022)I like it more as I drink it. It's very unique, and I stand by my assertion that it tastes like a bastard child of bourbon and Irish whiskey. There's a nice sweetness on the tongue, light vanilla with a distinct leather nose, and the burn is mostly in the throat. -
Isaac Bowman Straight Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed March 29, 2022 (edited September 22, 2022)Sweet nose that is lighter than you'd expect from the color. Nice warm brown flavors, and a long finish. I think this would be a lot better overall if it weren't so ethanol-forward. I've had many stronger bourbons that didn't have this much booziness. -
Rabbit Hole Cavehill Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed February 12, 2022 (edited March 10, 2022)I like it more as I try it again a few months later. The subtle sweetness helps frame up the toasted corn and brown fruit notes. The nose is a bit unbalanced, but the flavor comes through stronger than you'd think. Finish is a bit boozy, but overall a solid bourbon. -
A pleasant surprise, I'd heard the 1792s were overrated. But this was nice and complex. The front is just as the professionals describe, a burst of tropical flavors, which give way to the more classic bourbon flavors of vanilla. The finish is long and spicy, and very pleasant. I'll be buying another bottle for sure.
