Reviewed September 10, 2023 (edited June 5, 2024)Kind of a hot mess and closed off at first. Ice tames it and allows nice berry, caramel and chocolate notes out, but the body is thin. Spicy, flat finish. Not one of the better foursquare product I’ve tasted. Botle is almost empty and has improved significantly. What was once squaler is now delightful. Has improved significantly. Saved the best notes and dicarded the worst. Too bad my bottle is almost gone! 12-15-23 Bottle kill. This is the end, beautiful friend This is the end, my only friend The end of our elaborate plans The end of everything that stands The right amount of water made this delicious. I will miss it. -

Reviewed October 11, 2022 (edited July 14, 2023)This is a blend of pot and column still rums that were aged for a total of 14 years with 3 years in ex-Bourbon and 11 years in ex-sherry casks before being bottled at 62% ABV. So, a warning for those that drink this to proceed with caution as this drinks far hotter than that 62% suggests and my first nosing of it felt as if a black mamba snuck in my glass waiting patiently till I was in striking distance before jumping out to bite the hell out of my nose. Alas, I repeated this process multiple times as I kept adding water until after many drops of water, the mambas finally drowned which allowed for the flavors to emerge starting with a mix of suede, caramelized bananas and light nail polish remover then dark chocolate, musty grapes and toasted coconut followed by gooseberries, mango and sautéed apples that transitions to baking spices and polished mahogany furniture with high ethanol burn. The taste is a medium mouthfeel starting sweet with a mix of creamy sweet tropical fruits before a mild bitter spice that quickly fades to suede, caramelized bananas and light bitter vegetal notes then dark chocolate covered raisins and toasted coconut followed by mango, cherries jubilee and sautéed apples that transitions to baking spices and polished mahogany furniture with high ethanol burn. The finish is medium length light bitter vegetal notes, bananas foster, pineapple, mild black pepper and over steeped black tea. Overall, this is delicious rum that, for me, really needs water to be able to appreciate and unlock those enjoyable tropical fruits along with light vegetal notes, sherry and old wood but this isn’t as polished as I’d hoped from those 14 years of aging that suffers from a mild astringency and bitterness that throws off the experience. Thanks @ctbeck11 for the generous sample and this is a good start to my mini Foursquare series. -

Reviewed August 21, 2022 (edited September 10, 2023)Extremely hot rum. Needed to be iced for a while before I was able to enjoy and then flavor wasn't that great anyway. Not the worst rum, but for the price, it's a hot mess. -

Reviewed July 14, 2022 (edited October 16, 2023)The first whiff brings a little bit of nail salon, which isn't among my favorite notes. It's pretty hot on both the nose and the palate. Underneath the nail salon, there's some caramel banana, vanilla, apricot, maybe black cherry. The palate shows ethanol, grape soda, chocolate, green banana, vanilla, then goes for a fairly bitter finish. This is a little bit of a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, It's decent rum, but it doesn't rise to the level of other recent FS releases I've tried, and it's not a great value.110.0 USD per Bottle
